Six Clean Beauty Clear Brow Gels

I didn't get into clear brow gel until I stopped waxing my eyebrows a couple of years ago. As I let my brows grow out, I realized that it took me more time to define my brows using tinted gels, and things could get a bit messy. I wanted my eyebrows set in place, but I didn't always need the extra color. I got my first clear brow gel in a beauty box, and I've tried many since then, read on to hear my thoughts on six of the brow gels I've tried.

EcoBrow Defining Gel

This is my favorite brow gel because the brush is long on one side and short on the other. The consistency of this is jelly-like and dries down matte yet not flakey. The first few times I used it, I thought it was a little too jelly, but once it oxidized a bit it reached the consistency that I like, I started to love it. I first use the small size of the brush to tame everything into place, and the longer side to define and settle straggling hairs. The retail price is $24. Shop it: here

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Ethanol (Alcohol), VP/VA Copolymer, Tromethamine, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Polyvinyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil

Jane Iredale PureBrow Brow Gel in Clear

The Jane Iredale Brow Gel was my favorite before I tried the EcoBrow Defining Gel. I got this one in some beauty box. I like its consistency because it is a gel, and it dries quickly but doesn't leave my brows shiny. The texture did change in the wintertime, we don't have central heat/air, and was a little thick and goopy. Once it heated up, it un-gooped and was like when I opened it. The brush on the PureBrow Gel is thin and long enough to cover a decent-sized area. The retail price is $24. Shop it: here

Ingredients: Aqua/Water/Eau, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Spirulina Platensis (Algae) Extract, Glycerin, Raphanus Sativus (Radish) Root Extract, Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan) Extract, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, (and) Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil

Ere Perez Aloe Gel Lash & Brow Mascara

The Ere Perez Aloe Gel Lash & Brow Mascara was one that I was so excited to try! It looked funkier than the others for some reason, and it has a silicone brush head. Well, I ended up liking the gel's consistency, but the silicon bristles were a little too far apart. My brows would end up looking sparse in some areas because of this. I think this would work better for someone who has thicker, courser brows than me. The retail price is $24. Shop it: here

Ingredients: water (aqua), organic aloe (aloe barbadensis) gel, pvp, ethyl alcohol, cellulose gum, glycerine, panthenol (vitamin b5), potassium sorbate

Six clean beauty clear brow gels

Zuzu Luxe Mascara in Clear

I picked up the Zuzu Luxe Mascara in Clear from Target without reading the label. It is not technically a brow gel, but I use it that way. The reason this isn't one of my favorites is that the wand is rather voluptuous. I understand that it is supposed to be mascara, but I have been using it solely as a brow product, and it holds excellent without being too shiny. But the wand is a little too big and hard to maneuver for my brow size. I would re-purchase this in a pinch but would pick one of the "BEST" ones if I couldn't wait for it to ship. The retail price is $18. Shop it: here

Ingredients: Aqua (Infusion of Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice), Cellulose Gum, Sorbitol, Stearic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Lecithin, Panthenol, Crithmum Maritimum (Sea Fennel) Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Euphrasia Officinalis (Eyebright) Extract, Xanthan Gum, Iron Oxides, Hectorite, Titanium Dioxide, Potassium Sorbate

Saie Brow Butter in Clear

I was excited to try the brand Saie, but I was disappointed by their products... The wand of this brow butter is WAY too tiny. I have fine brows, but even then, it didn't do anything to set or define them. It is also a wax rather than a gel. I would run the wand through my brows multiple times, and I felt like the wax would barely transfer. I wouldn't recommend this product, but it is available here. The retail price is $18.

Ingredients: Octyldodecanol, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Jojoba Esters, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Silica, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Cetyl Palmitate, Stearyl Alcohol, Dipentaerythrityl

Hexahydroxystearate/Hexastearate/Hexarosinate,Isostearyl Isostearate,VP/Eicosene Copolymer,Trihydroxystearin,Phenyl Trimethicone,Sorbitan Oleate,Caprylyl Glycol,*Butylene Glycol,Water (Aqua),Sorbitan Tristearate,Tocopherol,Tocopheryl Acetate,Dextran,Acetyl Tetrapeptide-3,Trifolium Pratense (Clover) Flower Extract,May Contain: Iron Oxides (Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499),Mica

Dr. Hauschka Brow and Lash Gel

I was excited to try Dr. Hauschka's lash gel because a friend recommended it to me. I am sad to report that I didn't love it. It has a thin brush, but the consistency is more oily than I like. Also, I didn't feel like it transferred to my brows very well. Another one I wouldn't recommend but is available here. The retail price is $22.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Alcohol, Sorbitol, Glycerin, Chondrus Crispus Extract, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Hectorite, Euphrasia Officinalis Extract, Fragrance (Parfum), Limonene*, Citronellol*, Coumarin*, Geraniol*, Linalool*, Citral*, Silk (Serica) Powder, Xanthan Gum. *component of natural essential oils
